Using the computer to automatically harmonize and create fugues and canons

By | October 9, 2014

If you compose a lot of pieces for occasional and one-off use (such as school plays) tonica fugata is ideal. It will harmonize your melodies, relieving you of the time consuming less creative work. There are built in styles but you can import examples of any composer’s work and tonica fugata will ‘learn’ their style.

As well as producing 4 part harmony it will create full canons and fugues from short themes.

It will analyse your harmonies and write the chord descriptions below each chord in a range of methods including the traditional Roman numeral method. It will highlight technical errors such as forbidden consecutives.

Finally it comes with 14 interactive lessons and can check your harmonizations for correctness.
